THE SCHILZ RECORD

General Manager, McGinley-Schilz Feedyard
Under Ken’s leadership, McGinley-Schilz Feedyard was named Certified Angus Beef Progressive Partner of the year in 2003.  This prestigious award was given for the company’s work in promoting and developing individual identification for cattle being at the yard, and Ken was the driving force behind the program development and coordination with the cattle producers.

In 2005, McGinley-Schilz was selected over 85 national competitors as the Certified Angus Beef Large Feedyard of the Year.  That recognition was due in large part to Ken’s strong attention to detail and his ability to understand and communicate with the partners and producers.

Founder, Keith County Business Coalition
The Keith County Business Coalition is a group of local business owners who partnered with Keith County Area Development and the City of Ogallala to create the Ogallala North Business Park.  Ken was a driving force behind the formation of the group, and was instrumental in working to streamline the community development activities of the Ogallala Keith County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Ogallala.

President, Nebraska Water Users Board
In 1997, Ken was elected to serve as President of the Nebraska Water Users Board.  During his tenure, he worked to bring Nebraska together on water issues and served as an advisor to the Nebraska Farm Bureau and the Nebraska Cattlemen.  Ken provided needed leadership at the highest level, traveling to Washington DC to represent farmers in water negotiations and working to protect Nebraska’s rights in the Cooperative Agreement for endangered species.
